Jamaica accepts right-hand drive vehicles up to a set age for each type, with an import licence from the Trade Board. We ship UK vehicles to Kingston.

What you can import into Jamaica

Cars and SUVs: up to 6 years

Saloons, station wagons and SUVs can be no more than 6 years old.

Pickups and vans

Pickups up to 1,500 kg unladen: 6 years. Pickups and small trucks of 1,501–3,000 kg, panel vans and window vans: 10 years.

Trucks

Trucks can be older: 20 years (3,001–6,000 kg), 25 years (6,001–8,000 kg) and 30 years (over 8,000 kg).

Import licence

You need an import licence from the Trade Board Limited before the vehicle is shipped.

Right-hand drive

Jamaica drives on the left. All our UK vehicles are right-hand drive.

Rules last checked October 2026. Import rules and taxes change, so always confirm the latest position with your clearing agent before you buy. We'll also check for you before you pay.

We send the price shipped to Kingston by RoRo or container.
Your import licence
Where Jamaica requires one, you apply for the import licence or permit before the vehicle ships. We send you the documents you need.
Shipping
The vehicle goes to a UK port and is shipped to Kingston.
Arrival and clearing
Your customs broker clears the vehicle and arranges inspection and registration.
